Piers Morgan says he was bed-bound with covid for a week after he 'flatlined'

Piers Morgan has shared details of his covid ordeal and said that he was “flatlined’ in bed for a week with “debilitating fatigue” after catching the virus at Wembley during the Euro 2020 final against Italy.

After attending the nail-biting match on July 11, Piers, 56, said he was struck down with a raging fever, coughing fits, sneezing and “strange aches” and was so hot he felt like he was in a “Saharan furnace”.

It transpired that the broadcaster had contracted covid at the game. Two days later, he began feeling poorly so took two tests and both came back positive.

Luckily Piers had had both of his vaccine jabs – something he believes saved his life.

He wrote in his Mail on Sunday column that he felt like he “had been run over”.

He added: “Been a week now and although the fever’s long gone, the fatigue keeps overwhelming me like a soporific tidal wave. I haven’t even read a newspaper since developing symptoms, which for a news junkie like me is unprecedented.”

Two days after being at the game, Piers, 56, said he started to feel rough

He went on to say how he sympathises with his pal Kate Garraway’s husband Derek Draper.

Piers wrote: “Derek is three years younger than me and remains in a virtual coma 15 months after being rushed to hospital at the height of the first wave of the pandemic with a headache and breathing issues.

“Of course, the big and very fortunate difference for me is that vaccines have since been developed and I’m double-jabbed with the Oxford/AstraZeneca one.”

Piers claimed that Jamie Redknapp caught covid at Wembley, too. In fact, the pair were supposed to go out for dinner together but both had to cancel due to being ill.

Even though Wembley officials said that only fully vaccinated fans and negatively tested ones would be allowed in, the stadium was breached by a load of fans without tickets.
