Piers Morgan shares tweets from anti-vax dad who died after rejecting jab

Piers Morgan has shared tweets from a woman who says her anti-vaxxer dad died from coronavirus, and urged his followers to get a covid jab.

The former Good Morning Britain star, 56, has previously expressed his anger at those who refuse vaccines and spout “conspiracy theory nonsense”, but he has described the man’s alleged death as a tragedy.

Taking to Instagram, Piers shared the tweets from an account of an American man named Brent H who vowed never to get a covid vaccine.

Brent H also tweeted that he valued zinc and vitamin D supplements over the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

However, sadly a tweet from the same account read: “This is Brent’s daughter… dad died of COVID. He had no underlying conditions and was in his early 50s.

“I know he’s been saying otherwise, but PLEASE save your families this heartache. Go get your shot.”

Piers then wrote a caption alongside the screenshots which read: “The tragedy of refusing to take covid & vaccines seriously. Get the jab.

However, Piers received a wave of comments from anti-vaxxers who were fuming with him and didn’t want to be told what to do.

One commented: “Individual choice – its a no!”

A second wrote: “People do have the right to choose what they do and don’t want to put into their bodies. It’s terrible that you pass judgment on others with using such words as ‘tragedy’.”

A third who was a fan of Piers penned: “This is a personal choice. I dig you Piers, but please don’t lecture people like this.”

A fourth user then joined in and added: “How much they paying you for this nonsense”.

And others even discarded the posts from Brent’s account as fake, with one writing: “I dunno, that’s a bit fishy mate”.

Piers then released an edited caption following the backlash, penning: “So many anti-vaxx loons have replied to this with their usual deluded idiocy. Please take your whack-job conspiracy theory nonsense out of my Instagram and out of my headspace. Thank you.”

This comes as Brits have been urged to get their vaccines to protect themselves against new variants such as the Delta variant.

Delta plus, a mutated version of the existing Delta Covid variant which was confirmed to be in the UK, is thought to be even more infectious than the Delta variant – which is itself is 60% more transmissable than the Alpha strain.

It’s not clear yet whether the symptoms of the Delta Plus Covid variant differs to those of the Delta variant, but India’s News 18 channel has reported those who have suffered with it have experienced symptoms such as stomach aches, vomiting, loss of appetite, joint pains, nausea and hearing impairment.

According to the NHS, the main symptoms of covid are a new, continuous cough, loss of smell and taste, and a high fever.

However, a huge proportion of the country has now been jabbed to protect them against covid – with a whopping three in five adults now double-jabbed in the UK.

Dr Lance Pinto, consultant respirologist at the Hinduja National Hospital, told Sky News: “We are quite concerned about the Delta plus variant, given that it has a mutation that was attributed to the Beta variant – escaping the immunity offered by the Astra vaccine (the vaccine received by a majority in India).

“The concerns also revolve around the possibility of reinfections as there are reports that the variant escapes neutralization with the antibody cocktail.”

However, scientists told BBC that it’s too early to tell if the so-called Delta Plus variant is more dangerous than the original one.
