Piers Morgan tells his wife she drastically needs to improve her 'pillow talk'

Piers Morgan may no longer be starring on Good Morning Britain, but this doesn’t mean his wife Celia Walden isn’t.

On Thursday’s programme of GMB, she featured on the show to discuss the ins and out of her new novel called Payday.

When interviewed by hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid, journalist and author Celia explained that there are some parallels between her husband and the character in the book.

The thriller storyline is based on a ruthless man who has a love-hate relationship with his colleagues in the workplace.

Susanna began: “Well you have put all your energy into this terrific novel, I’m not just saying that because it’s you.

“I found it really hard in the last year-and-a-half to read fiction and at the time you sent this to me with a lovely note about ‘did I know anyone who was impossible to work with and if I did then I might enjoy reading this’.”

She then added: “It’s terrific and it’s quite ruthless and brutal.”

Celina responded: “It is brutal but I have always been fascinated by unlikely bonds between women, and I think nothing bonds people more by hating the same man, I feel like everything I’m saying has terrible parallels.”

The ex GMB star’s wife also revealed that she often picked her husband’s brains to help her out with the plot.

The 45-year-old shared: “When Piers read it, he read it in 48 hours and kept looking up at me saying ‘is this really what goes on in your head?’

“And all the way through when I was asking for tips on how to make a character die and I would be like ‘should he be impaled…’ and we would be lying in bed at night and he would say ‘I don’t know but your pillow talk really needs work.'”

This then caused Ben and Susanna to both erupt into laughter and discuss her future hopes for the book.

Susanna suggested it could make a great box set for streaming services like Netflix, to which Celia shared that she is “in discussions already”.

She also said she would be releasing a second book but it wouldn’t be a sequel to this first novel.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
