Piers Morgan's son claims former GMB host has received 'death threats'

Piers Morgan’s son Spencer Morgan has taken to social media to defend his dad following his departure from Good Morning Britain.

The 55-year-old former GMB host has been at the centre of a social media storm following his attacks on Meghan Markle during the show.

After a debate with co-star Alex Beresford on the programme earlier this week, Piers stormed off set before it later emerged that he would be leaving ITV for good.

Speaking up in defence of his dad in the days following his departure, Spencer took aim at ‘brainwashed young’ and suggested that Piers had received “death threats”.

“What’s also become clear is it’s the brainwashed young are the most vile and abusive on Team Woke. Their parents must save them,” he penned in the tweet.

Hours later he added: “To be specific it’s early teenage girls. The ones who ‘stan’ stuff and have s*** like one direction in their bio.

“Sending death threats etc, you name it. Poor kids – hope they get help.”

A representative for Piers Morgan has been approached by Daily Star for comment.

Spencer’s remarks about ‘Team Woke’ critics, comes after a dramatic week for his dad that saw him leave Good Morning Britain.

Piers’ exit came off the heels of the bombshell interview that aired on Monday in the UK between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey.

Following the interview – during which Meghan said she had considered taking her own life – Piers expressed doubt about the truth of her claims.

Ofcom was quick to launch an investigation into ITV and GMB after they received 41,000 complaints because of his remarks.

However, things did not stop there.

On Tuesday, Weatherman Alex spoke out against Piers’ treatment of the Duchess of Sussex on the Monday episode.

He said: “I understand that you do not like Meghan Markle and you have made it clear so many times – so many times on this programme.

“And I understand you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She is entitled to cut you off if she wants to.”

Piers then stormed off the show and didn’t return for 15 minutes.

It was later confirmed by ITV that Piers would be stepping away from the show after five years.
