Piers Morgan’s wife Celia Walden has spoken candidly about her relationship with the former breakfast show host and how he got into a bit of a scrape on their first ever date.
Celia, 45, revealed how her now-husband Piers crashed his car because he couldn’t stop staring at her legs during their first romantic get-together.
According to Celia, after they met during a GQ shoot, the Life Stories star launched into a persistent six-month campaign to try and woo the author.
Talking more about her first date and the car crash incident, Celia told The Sun: “He decided to drive me to his favourite restaurant.
“But Piers was so busy looking at my legs he crashed into a white van ahead of us. This guy gets out, in the middle of Chelsea, takes one look at Piers and says, ‘I might have f***ing known it was you’.
“There followed an incredibly hostile exchange. I was quite taken aback and asked if that happened a lot to him, and he just replied, ‘Quite a lot’.”
Journalist Celia also said that Piers arranged several meetings with her regarding work and kept on insisting that there were certain things he “didn’t quite get”.
After the couple met frequently on separate occasions, Piers declared that he had feelings for Celia and that she ticked all of his boxes.
But at the time, Celia still wasn’t convinced which led Piers to become even more persistent and ramp up the chase.
Cambridge University graduate Celia went on to describe the time when Piers bought her a cactus as a gift that “spewed venom” along with a book titled The History Of Noxious Gases.
However, despite not caving in initially, Celia admitted that Piers eventually “wore her down” and she began to find him very amusing so went along with his advances.
Although she is married to one of the most controversial men in television, Celia is a successful author in her own right and recently signed a six-figure, two-book deal with publisher Little Brown.
Outspoken Piers left his role at ITV’s Good Morning Britain in March, due to his remarks regarding Megan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey and her suicidal claims.
After receiving several complaints from viewers for his outlandish views, ITV issued a statement that the presenter had left the show.
Celia was asked what it is like being married to Piers and how he has managed without his morning job.

The presenter’s wife explained that being married to Piers is often like “one very long eye roll” but he is usually much quieter when he’s at home.
She also explained that the host used to come back home around 9am after his shift at GMB and was too tired to do much else, but since he’s been at home he has got his energy back.
Jokingly, Celiaadded that someone should “please” give him a new job.
