Ranvir Singh breaks down in tears over Dr Alex's brother's death on Lorraine

On Tuesday’s episode of Lorraine, Ranvir Singh was covering for the Scottish host when Love Island’s Dr Alex appeared on the show to talk about his brother who sadly died last year.

Dr Alex’s brother Llyr died aged 19 in July 202, with the reality star confirming at the time that he had ‘lost his little brother due to mental health”.

The former Love Island star opened up to host Ranvir in a candid chat about mental health, in which he said: “There have been moments in this last year when I’ve really struggled. I’m happy to say that. We need those people around us to support us.

“There have been times when I’ve had to say “I’m finding it really tough right now.”

“Resilience is being able to bend and flex, by bringing people into help you and pick yourself up again.

Ranvir became incredibly tearful and emotional, struggling to get her words out, she said to Alex: “I think you’re amazing, for what you do and all the pain you’ve carried.

Choked up, she said: “I feel quite emotional speaking to you, because we all think of our own families. Thank you for everything you’re doing.”

Viewers flocked to twitter to support the TV host, with one saying: “big love Ranvir what a trooper.”

Another penned: “Bless Ranvir.”

While a third wrote: “Yes… We are always there for you. Sending you lots of love and strength from my side… Stay strong.”

A fourth said: “This is why we love you Ranvir . You talk to your guests with enthusiasm and compassion. You really do make this programme worth watching.”

Dr Alex’s younger brother passed away last summer, the world found out when the former Love Island star penned a tribute on Instagram.

The A&E doctor, who starred on Love Island 2018, posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram and said the family are “devastated” following Llyr’s passing.

He penned: “I can’t believe I am actually writing this post. I have lost my beautiful little brother to mental health. I love you so much Llŷr.

“The kindest and most caring soul. I was so proud of you starting medical school next month, you would have been the most incredible doctor.

“We are hurting so bad. No words can explain.”

Dr Alex has recently been appointed the role of ambassador to advise the government on mental health issues.

He balances with a role with his day job of A&E doctor in a London hospital.
