Ranvir Singh emotional as she opens up about rarely-seen son in candid Ed Balls chat

Ranvir Singh was seen getting emotional on Good Morning Britain as she asked for parenting advice from former politician Ed Balls on how to handle a stammer.

The Loose Women presenter joined the doting dad and his co-host Susanna Reid for Wednesday’s instalment of the hit ITV morning show.

And viewers were in for an emotional show as they tuned in for their daily news updates, as the presenters touched on the power of parenting as they celebrated National Prematurity day.

But one of the things the single mum found herself getting teary-eyed over was Ed’s inspirational speech about how he overcame his stammer.

The co-host opened up about his struggles with the neurological condition throughout his life.

Overcome with emotion, the 44-year-old confessed she was going to go home and “go on the app and show this to my son” who also suffers with the condition.

The doting dad said: “We did a video when I was Secretary of State and it’s called Wait, Wait, I’ve not finished yet.

“And it’s children with stammers telling teachers don’t interrupt me, don’t tell me to hurry, just give me the confidence to speak and be who I am.

“And actually every time you say a joke about stammering, or any time you say to somebody, ‘Get your words out’, anytime you say, ‘Well, I won’t ask you because you’ll stammer’ you make it worse.

“But if you just let people be who they are, you will give your son the confidence,” he added.

Concerned mum Ranvir then asked: “Is it unhelpful for a parent, asking for a friend, to say, ‘Just take a breath and start again’ or is that also quite unhelpful?

“Because I do that a lot, I go, ‘Just take a breath and try again’ and I’m trying to be helpful but is that wrong?”

To which he replied: “I think you just need to wait and say, ‘It’s fine, take your time and do it the way you want to do it’.”

The broadcaster then joked: “I think I’m having a bit of a therapy session with Ed Balls!”

The politician later added: “Any time you put any pressure on then that makes it harder and it tightens up.”

Ranvir generally prefers to keep her family life out of the press, with her rarely-seen son kept out of the spotlight until he is old enough to decide for himself whether or not he wants to be in the public eye.
