Ranvir Singh admitted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey had an impact across the globe, including in the GMB studio.
The presenter, 43, said the aftermath has “ricocheted out” and left a lasting mark “across the world” as well as “right here” on the show.
It comes weeks after lead Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan stepped down from his job following an enormous backlash to comments he made about Meghan, which sparked an Ofcom investigation.
On Wednesday, Ranvir, 43, spoke with her colleague Susanna Reid about a recent statement shared by the Archbishop of Canterbury, in which he confirmed the Royal couple were officially wed at Windsor Castle.
During the groundbreaking Oprah interview, Meghan explained she shared her personal vows with Harry days before their televised wedding.
The couple, who are currently expecting their second child, explained it was an intimate occasion with the Archbishop present.
Referring to her comments, Ranvir said: “She might have meant blessed? You were blessed. People have their vows blessed, don’t they and things like that. Maybe she just meant that?
“I think what he’s referring to is one of a number of private and pastoral meetings that took place,” Susanna replied, speaking on behalf of the Archbishop.
Ranvir went on: “She talked in there saying oh those vows they are jut for us, the ones that we’ve got framed.
“They clearly had some ceremony but it wasn’t a legal ceremony.”
The GMB host then referenced the impact the interview had on GMB, saying: “And the problem for her of course now is that all the furore that followed it, and all that ricocheted out – which we’ve felt across the world… and right here.
“Is that it does then lend itself to more questioning of all of the details in every part of the two-hour sit down that we saw.”
“Exactly,” Susanna agreed.
While the Archbishop confirmed he had carried out private meetings with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, he explained their official ceremony had been in Windsor Castle.
