Richard Madeley risks wrath of wife Judy as he makes solo joke on Tipping Point

Tipping Point Lucky Stars host Ben Shephard welcome four famous faces to a celebrity version of the ITV show on Sunday afternoon.

Richard Madeley, Mark Wright and Sheila Ferguson all tried their luck against the machine in hope to raise some serious cash for their chosen charities.

TV veteran Richard, 66, appeared on Tipping Point Lucky Stars alone without his famous wife and presenting partner Judy Finnegan.

However, he couldn’t help but bring his other half into the conversation during his time in the studio.

Former This Morning presenter Richard introduced himself on the show, pointing out he is best known for being one half of presenting duo, Richard and Judy.

He quickly made it clear that he was confident in competing on Tipping Point without his wife by his side.

“I don’t need anybody to hold my hand,” the TV presenter joked.

“I’m an independent man, so you guys better watch out.”

As he finished introducing himself, Richard pretended to take a pretend phone call from Judy leaving Ben and the rest of the studio in fits of laughter.

Former TOWIE star turned fitness guru Mark Wright got off to a good start by correctly answering the first question, which was about children’s TV show Bananas in Pyjamas.

However instead of taking the chance to put a counter into the machine himself, the reality star passed his turn over to Richard.

Richard placed his first counter into the machine choosing drop zone number one, but unfortunately he didn’t manage to get anything out of the machine.

When Richard buzzed in for the second question and answered it correctly, he elected to drop another counter into drop zone one.

This time however he was more successful, getting four counters across the tipping point and adding £400 to his bank.

The three players continued through the round with host Ben firing a number of tricky questions at them.

Round one ended with Sheila in last place having only £300 in her bank, while Mark was in the lead with £600.

This meant Sheila was sadly knocked out of the competition, but she took home £900 for charity Water Aid UK.

Richard won round two having built up £2,700 in his bank.

As well as gaining lots of money in the second round, Richard also won some Tipping point underpants.

“Next time I’m sitting on This Morning I’ll wear them,” the presenter joked.

Mark left the competition with £2,000 for charity Haven House Children’s Hospice.

Richard was the sole celebrity to make his way to the final round.

When it came to the final three counters Ben asked him if he wanted to take the money or trade it for the final counters.

Richard elected to take the trade, saying: “I think it would be timid not to give it a whirl”.

He made the right choice, as he managed to get the jackpot counter over the tipping point securing £20,000 for his two charities, St Frances House Essex and Cornwall Air Ambulance.

Tipping Point airs weekdays on ITV at 4pm
