Kate and Rio Ferdinand are just two of the celebrities who have made a generous donation to Ashley Cain’s battle to save his poorly daughter’s life.
TOWIE star Kate and her former Manchester United footballer husband Rio have joined a string of celeb stars who have donated to the heartbreaking cause, sending £1,000.
And so far, nearly a staggering £1.5million has been raised by well-wishers for the Azaylia Go Fund Me, which has been set-up by Ashley so his baby daughter can receive potentially life-saving treatment for leukaemia.
Azaylia was diagnosed with AML Leukaemia when she was just eight weeks old, leaving her in a critical condition in intensive care.
But Kate and Rio were more than happy to offer welcome funds to Ashley, who is a former Ex on the Beach star, and his partner Safiyya Voragge, who plan to fly the poorly tot to Singapore for expensive treatment.
Speaking from his little girl’s hospital room, Ashley issued a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has taken the time to help.
“I’m overwhelmed by the sheer amount of support that you guys have given us,” Ashley told his 177,100 Twitter followers.
He added: “I am absolutely lost for words.”
Umar Kamani, one of the co-founders of top fashion chain PrettyLittleThing, has kindly donated £20,000 to the cause, with over 107,000 different people from all over the world willing to help having learnt of Azaylia’s tragic story.
Other celebs including former Love Island stars Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins, and footballers Luke Shaw, Andre Gray, Cyrus Christie and Harrison Reed have pledged welcome donations.
An appeal began after his daughter had “gone into full relapse” following three rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, the couple explained.
“The only option to save Azaylia’s life [is] to fly to Singapore for CAR-T therapy plus a haplo transplant,” they said.
It is specifically developed for individual patients and involves reprogramming their immune system cells, which are then used to target their cancer.
In a statement, the couple said: “Azaylia is such a strong little girl who has fought through every near impossible battle so far and she has done it all with love in her heart and a smile on her face!
“We pray that we can raise the funds to get her to Singapore so she can continue fighting for the life that she loves so much.”
