Rita Ora says freezing eggs aged 24 after GP's advice was the 'best thing she ever did'

Rita Ora has opened up about freezing her eggs aged just 24, and again at 27. The now 31-year-old star said it was ‘the best thing she ever did’.

In an interview with The Independent, Rita spoke about freezing her eggs at a young age, saying that women tend to put pressure on themselves subconsciously because they feel as though it is their duty – “to create and give life.”

She continued: “So, I just wanted to not worry about it. And I didn’t after, and it was the best thing I ever did.”

Back in 2017, Rita appeared on Sunrise, an Australian breakfast show, where she revealed that her family doctor recommended freezing her eggs.

Speaking on the show, she said that he said to her: “You’re healthiest now and I think it would be great, why don’t you put them away now and you’ll never have to worry about it again?”

At the time she said that she was a “big believer in using what we have and making the most of it,” before adding: “I know people might say, ‘Wow, that’s so young.’ I just wanted to really be safe.”

In her December 2021 interview with The Independent, she also touched upon her romance and relationship with Taika Waititi, saying that she didn’t expect to find love in Australia, and it came when she wasn’t looking for it.

The pair met earlier on in the year when Rita was filming for The Voice in Australia in April 2021.

Taika is a 46-year-old filmmaker, actor and comedian who has two daughters from a previous marriage. Rita told the publication that she would “love to have a nice big family,” so could Rita and Taika be settling down soon?

But the hitmaker admitted she hadn’t been looking for love when she headed out to Australia in the first place.

And now Rita is aiming to keep her and Taika’s relationship away from the limelight because she wants to “protect it,” telling the publication that she used to be “so trusting” which would cause her to sometimes overshare.

She explained: “I think protecting something that you really care about, you’ve got to have a sense of privacy a little bit. I wouldn’t have known that if I didn’t go through what I went through in the past.”
