Roman Kemp has heartbreakingly admitted that he thought about taking his own life back in 2019.
The star who is known for appearing on Capital FM’s Breakfast Show said that he considered “jumping in front of a train” during his emotional BBC documentary, Our Silent Emergency, which aired on Tuesday.
Roman, 28, said that his famous mum, Shirlie Holliman, had actually saved his life, without her even realising as the pair broke down into tears.
His documentary comes just a year after his best friend and colleague, Capital FM’s Breakfast producer, Joe ‘Producer Joe’ Lyons, was found dead after taking his own life.
However, just one year before Joe’s tragic death, Roman’s struggles with anxiety back in 2019 saw him drop to the floor.
Speaking about his experience, the Los Angeles born star said: “I was caught out in my brain on everything, how I looked, what I was doing wrong work-wise, ‘Am I doing my job because of who my dad is? Am I being a good boyfriend?’.”
He went on to say: “All these pressures just came on top of me. I remember being in the bedroom not knowing what to do.
“I went to the floor on my knees around my head and just crying, saying to myself, ‘What’s the point? Why am I carrying on?'”
Roman’s mum, Wham! singer Shirlie instantly jumped into her car and made sure that his older sister, Harley Moon Kemp, 31, stayed with him during the night.
During a walk in the park with Shirlie, Roman told her the extent of his thoughts as the pair broke down into tears.
“I just remember feeling it was too much in my head. I know it’s really hard for me to tell you this,” he told the Wake Me Up singer
“That day I thought about going to the train station and jumping in front of a train, I’m sorry I never told you that.”
Martin Kemp’s son had earlier revealed that he had been taking antidepressants for around 15 years, after being clinically diagnosed with depression.
His documentary explored the topic of mental health amongst men after he faced unbelievable heartache when Joe passed away.
The last time Roman saw his best friend was during a summers day on Clapham Common when the lockdown restrictions were first eased, with everybody heading out to see one another again.

During a live radio show in August 2020, Roman noticed that his friend of eight years hadn’t turned up to the Leicester Square studio but initially believed he was running behind schedule.
He recalled sending Joe a text message at 6:05am, saying: “Let me know you’re OK.”
However, an hour later, a Capital FM producer made their way to Joe’s home to check in on the talented producer.
As Roman continued with his show, an executive producer said Joe was “in the house”, before Roman and co-stars Sian Welby and Sonny Jay abruptly came off-air.
Speaking about the life-shattering moment, Roman said: “I knew, I said ‘is he gone?’ she said, ‘yeah, he’s gone’.”
The friends had lived just three minutes apart and said: “It would have taken me three minutes to get there had I know something was happening.”
“Three minutes away from me part of my world was completely ending.”
