Loose Women star Saira Khan reckons her future in daytime television is likely over, after she admitted she “tolerated” her Loose Women co-stars after she quit the ITV panel show.
The 50-year-old announced her departure from the ITV talk show after rumours started circulating of a rift with co-stars Jane Moore, Nadia Sawalha, Coleen Nolan, and Carol McGiffin.
Now, Saira has voiced her opinion on social media and revealed her reasons for leaving the popular daytime TV favourite, whose other hosts include include Denise Welch, Janet Street-Porter, Linda Robson, Gloria Hunniford, Stacey Solomon and Brenda Edwards.
“Right then – let’s put this baby to bed! Is there anyone out there who totally loves and gets on with all their colleagues in their organisation?” she asked.
“If you do – good on you.
“But from my life experience I can tell you, I have been in many work situations where I’ve got on with some and not others – but in order to get the job done I’ve tolerated people, like they’ve tolerated me, for the bigger picture and because it’s professional to get on, despite differences, to get the job done,” she said.
The star posted to her almost 98,000 followers on Instagram.
She continued: “I can tell you for a fact, that in the world of TV there is no-one that gets on with everyone they work with – it’s just that I am honest enough to say it and that’s what shocks people.
“I left that show on my terms and I am proud that I controlled my exit. I know the risk I took doing it that way – basically that I won’t be invited to any daytime shows anytime soon – but that price I was willing to pay because I’m not that desperate to be on the telly!”
The star went on to explain that she would be happy never to cross paths with certain hosts again, and that she needed to do what was right for her and family:
“What’s important in my life is feeling that I am doing right by me, my family, friends and values – I was not prepared to keep working in an environment that didn’t make me happy anymore – it wasn’t empowering and honestly I was becoming someone I was not.
“I will say it again, there are some people who I still am very close to on Loose Women, but there are others that I am very happy never to cross their path again – why , because they are not the type of people I would choose to be friends with in my ‘real’ life – just as they would not choose me if they had a choice.”
Khan then finished the lengthy posts by saying she would not be “spilling the beans” on who she had clashed with on the show.
“Now if you want me to name names of the people I ‘tolerated’ – that is never going to happen – because that is no one’s business but mine – it’s not of “public interest,” she insisted.
“I left the show in January 2021. I said my piece and nine months on, the same story and headlines keeps being re-worked. It’s not like I’ve said anything new or ground breaking is it??
“I guess I’ve been honest and open – that’s rare in the world of showbiz, and I’m a woman, so I guess they’re all waiting for a b****y bust up and insider revelations! Ohhh the things I could say and share! But I’ll take them to my grave rather than spill them for clickbait.”
