Sarah Harding opened up on losing touch with Girls Aloud pals in final TV appearance

Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding has died following a battle with breast cancer, aged 39.

Her mum confirmed the news on Sarah’s Instagram page on September 5 2021, writing a heartfelt message to notify her fans and followers.

Sarah’s final on-screen interview took place on September 5 2017, when she appeared on the Loose Women panel for a candid chat about winning Celebrity Big Brother, after being crowned shortly before.

Wearing a black patterned blouse with a white insert, Sarah appeared happy and upbeat as she spoke eloquently to the panel.

With her blonde locks in a short wavy bob, the former Girls Aloud popstar was glowing after her recent CBB win.

Appearing on the show alongside Linda Robson and Janet Street Porter, the star spoke about her time in the house and her romance with fellow housemate Chad Johnson.

She said: “I just think from now on, I’ve got to expect the unexpected and go with the flow and that’s kind of what I did with this, I won £50,000 for my charity at the end of the day.”

She was then asked if she stayed in touch with the other members of Girls Aloud, when Sarah revealed that she mainly keeps in contact with Nadine.

“A lot of them are all sort of busy with their families and getting married and all that palaver, so it’s quite hard, especially when we’re all busy. But we cross paths obviously, places like this [TV studios].”

Chatting about the portrayal of herself on CBB after Katie Price expressed how she wanted the producers to show another side to Sarah, aside from the nighttime drinking, Sarah said, “I do come alive more at night, and that’s always been in my character. I’m usually quite quiet in the day and a little bit anxious and I get my thoughts process and everything else, I am definitely a night owl.”

Sarah then revealed that she was glad she did Celebrity Big Brother, after the panel dubbed her as ‘brave’ for appearing on the show where she is quite a ‘vulnerable person’.

“At the end of the day, I’ve had so much you know what written about me in the past and I kind of wanted to set the record straight. Yeah I’ve had my moments where I had my highs and my lows – I think you go through a whole spectrum of emotions in there.”

On Instagram, the statement read: “A message from Sarah’s mum…”

“It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day. She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year.

“It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved. I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead.”
