Sarah Harding has taken a frustrated pot-shot at former Girls Aloud manager Louis Walsh for not being “hands-on enough” to steer the group to greater success.
The singer, who is battling cancer, is hitting the headlines for revelations in her new book Hear Me Out.
And she branded Louis’s management of the award-winning group as “haphazard” and criticised the Irishman for not having the “knack” with a girl band like he did with his boy bands.
In another shock revelation from the book, 39-year-old Sarah was adamant the band could have been ever more successful if Louis had steered them in a better direction.
“The one thing that didn’t seem to be working out with the band was our management,” she penned in Hear Me Out, out now.
“Louis Walsh had managed us since our conception, but he didn’t seem to have the knack with a girl band that he did with boy bands he’d managed: Westlife and Boyzone.
“Looking back, I suppose he just wasn’t hands-on enough to steer us in the right direction.”
The former X Factor and Popstars judge is well-respected in the music industry, but a disgruntled Sarah recalled: “Despite our early success, there was a lot more we could have been doing. Opportunities were being missed in the way of product endorsements and advertising.”

Sarah wrote that while having hit records did provide some income, it wasn’t as much as it could have been as they weren’t writing and producing the tracks too.
She explained that Girls Aloud’s team at Polydor suggested they get new management, which was when Hillary Shaw – who had managed Bananarama and Dannii Minogue – came in.
With Hillary at the helm of their activities, things were no longer “haphazard” and the group had “proper, printed-out schedules” that they had to follow.
“I have to say,” she added, “it took a while to get used to that way of working, but it was a hell of a lot easier!”
Earlier this week Sarah spoke of her feelings of joys after learning that her brain and lung tumours had shrunk in size following her cancer treatment last year.
