Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn gushed that she wanted to stay on the soap forever just days before being axed by bosses for refusing to quit her OnlyFans site.
The actress, 40, who plays Mandy Richardson, joined the adult subscription service last month to share “racier” content with her supporters.
But after a meeting with show chiefs she opted to keep producing content on the site, which is against their rules and she left the soap.
Last night she thanked fans for standing by her, writing on Twitter: “Thanks for all your support.”
The saga comes just days after Sarah – who is departing her role after 25 years – said she would have loved a lifetime deal on the soap.
Speaking on The Capsule podcast, she said: “I love the people who are there. That is what has always brought me back to Hollyoaks – the crew and the cast.
“It’s like going back to family.
“I would stay as long as they’ll have me now.”
Mum of one Sarah said husband Jonathan Smith – who she shares five-year-old son Stanley with – “has been super supportive”.
She added: “All my friends and family know, it’s not something where I’ve gone, ‘Ooh, let’s keep this under the radar.’ I want to own it.”
But the star admitted she initially decided against joining sexy website OnlyFans due to all the “naughty” content on there, before changing her mind.
She said: “It gets such a stigma, and when I first considered it I was like, ‘No way. Absolutely no way.’
“But actually, when you look at it, it’s not at all. It has the reputation for that because there is a lot of that sort of content on there, and that’s why it’s an over-18s-only site.
“But there are yoga teachers on there, people cooking on there. There’s all sorts.”
Hollyoaks bosses confirmed this week that Sarah is leaving the show.
But former co-star Jeremy Edwards, who played Kurt Benson, branded producers hypocritical because they “promote nakedness”.
He told Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine on Thursday: “I never had clothes on when I was on the show.
“They’re constantly getting people to get their kit off and I don’t think it’s a big stretch.
“They do calendars with girls in their underwear. And boys in their boxers, or whatever.
“I don’t understand why they’ve got a problem with it.
“They’re using their bodies to promote the show, and now they’ve decided it’s not cool. I think it’s wrong.”
A Lime Pictures statement said it takes “our responsibility to our young audience very seriously” and therefore “the show does not allow any Hollyoaks cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.”
