Sean Lock seen in heartbreaking final video before tragic death from cancer aged 58

The late comedian Sean Lock has been spotted in his final public video – after his tragic death at the age of 58 following a battle with cancer.

The TV star, who was widely loved for being a regular on panel shows like 8 Out of 10 Cats and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, has been seen in a video shared on social media by a food charity called Edible London.

The food charity posted the video to Instagram in December – and it has become Sean’s heartbreaking final public video.

It follows Sean’s final TV appearance back in February – when he starred in the 21st season of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

In the video clip, Sean comically introduces himself as “that bloke off the telly whose name you can’t remember”.

He could be seen wearing a black turtle-neck jumper, and he looked noticeably thinner than he had in recent years.

He urged viewers to “check out” the charity’s website – as it launched a crowdfunder to combat food poverty in the UK.

It comes after the Channel 4 star has passed away from cancer surrounded by his loving family.

The dad-of-three had previously battled skin cancer in 1990 – whilst he worked as a labourer on a building site.

He had worked with others to help raise awareness for the disease after initially making a full recovery.

Sean’s agent announced Sean’s death, and a statement from Off The Kerb Productions read: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock.

“He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family.

“Sean was one of Britain’s finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit and the absurdist brilliance of his work, marked him out as a unique voice in British comedy.

“Sean was also a cherished husband and father to three children.

“Sean will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

“We kindly request that the privacy of his family and children is respected at this difficult time.”

Tributes poured out for the comedian on social media, with Sean’s close friend and fellow comedian Lee Mack (and star of Would I Lie To You?) featuring among the celebrity tributes.

Lee wrote: “I’ve known this day was coming for some time, but it’s no less heart-breaking.

“A true original both in comedy and life. I will miss him so much.”

Sean’s 8 Out of 10 Cats co-star Jon Richardson penned: “I idolised Sean as a comic long before I became a comedian myself and ten years working alongside him didn’t diminish that in the least.

“An incredible comic brain and a truly unique voice.”

Jonathan Creek star Alan Davies commented: “Sad news about Sean Lock. Funny on stage, hilarious off. We met in 1988 right at the start of our stand up careers.

“I hadn’t seen him in recent years as he quietly wrestled with illness but I feel very sad today for Anoushka and their children. RIP Locky.”

Sean is survived by his wife Anoushka Nara Giltsoff and their three children.
