Sheridan Smith has removed herself from social media after posting a cryptic message that she has received some “shocking news” on Monday evening.
The 39-year-old removed all traces of her online presence, worrying fans when she posted: “Just had the most shocking news, don’t let people get you down.
“We are here for a short time people, please be kind x.”
Fans reacted with concern, and raced to the comments to message the West End star for further details, but found she had deleted all of her accounts.
On a recent podcast with Lorraine Kelly, Sheridan voiced her fears about her son growing up around trolls on social media.
She said: ”It’s hard now. I’m scared for my son. I never had the trolls when I was first starting out.”
“I still find it hard to kind of see it and I have to delete my apps.”
She went on: “I think my goodness, what next for my son?”
It marks the second time that the actress has removed her social media accounts this year.
Earlier this month she mysteriously wiped clean her Twitter and Instagram pages, after teasing her new book, Honestly: My Story.
She shared a tweet to her army of fans saying she “cant wait” for them to get their own copy of to book, which is expected to hit shelves in October this year.
Keeping things cryptic once more, Sheridan said that “a lot of truths will come out”, adding: “I hope you finally understand.”
Penguin Publishing describes the much-anticipated book as “a northern soul speaking from the heart.”
It also says it explores ”feelings of imposter syndrome, struggles with her mental health and panic attacks.”
“Packed with showbiz adventure, funny and warm, but dark times and heartbreak too,” the description reads.
“This is the real Sheridan Smith, the incredible woman behind that prodigious talent.”
