Stacey Solomon says she thought someone had died when Joe Swash proposed

Stacey Solomon confused Joe Swash ‘s proposal flowers for a funeral arrangement, the Loose Women star has confessed.

The 31-year-old star appeared on Thursday’s installment of Loose Women, chatting about her engagement with her co-stars Jane Moore, Carol McGiffin, and Judi Love.

Joe, 38, got on bended knee on Christmas Eve, plotting a romantic woodland proposal near their Essex home.

Preparing for the special occasion, Joe organised a raft of white flowers, stringing the blooms between two trees for the proposal.

However, when Stacey happened across the floral display during their walk in the woods, she instantly assumed someone had died.

She explained: “He’d asked someone to put these white roses through two trees that the boys always run through.”

The ITV star confessed she confused the arrangement for a funeral display, paying tribute to a life that had been lost.

Stacey continued: “And I was like, ‘oh my god, I think someone’s passed away in our wood’.

“He was like ‘oh no! Shall we go and have a look’. And I was like, ‘No you can’t do that, that’s awful’.”

However, once they were beside the display of roses, Joe popped the question, leaving his bride-to-be in tears.

Joe later appeared on the show, cradling their one-year-old son Rex in his arms as he discussed the run-up to the engagement.

In a sweet tribute to his leading lady, Joe said: “I can’t wait for her to be my wife.”

The former EastEnders star also explained he had asked Stacey’s dad and sister for her hand in marriage, preparing for their special day months before the proposal.

On top of that, Joe designed her engagement ring himself – a diamond dazzler that left the Loose Women stars swooning.

Head over heels, Stacey told her pals on the show: “I’ve wanted this for so long!”

Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
