Star Trek and The Twilight Zone actress Joanne Linville dies

Joanne Linville has tragically passed away at the age of 93 on June 20 in Los Angeles.

The star was most famous for her roles in popular television series The Twilight Zone and Star Trek.

Joanne’s agent confirmed the late star’s passing which was on Sunday.

Her representatives statement read: “Linville lived a full life. One whose spirit, passion for art and life was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her.”

Joanne had an incredible career and appeared in over 100 films and TV shows during the 50s and 60s.

The actress also guest-starred on Star Trek and was the first female actor to play a Romulan commander in the show.

Although she never had a regular recurring role on TV, Linville guest-starred on many shows and had roles in Westerns, dramas and detective series.

Some of her credits include starring in six episodes of Studio One and three episodes of Gunsmoke.

During her career, which spanned over six decades, she also appeared in Hawaii Five-O, Barnaby Jones, Naked City, Adventures in Paradise and One Step Beyond.

In 1961, Linville guest starred in an episode of popular sci-fi series The Twilight Zone and in 1976, she played a supporting role in Barbra Streisand’s A Star Is Born.

During the 1980s, Linville started an acting conservatory with her teacher Stella Adler. Following on from this, she decided to write a book titled Seven Steps to an Acting Craft.

She also delved into teaching and taught the course The Power of Language at the Stella Adler Academy of Acting & Theatre in Los Angeles.

In 1962 , the actress married director Mark Rydell and had two children, Amy and Christopher Rydell. However the couple later divorced in 1973.

Both of Linville’s children are also actors and the late star also has one grandchild named Austin Rydell.

Since the announcement of her passing, fans have paid their tributes online.

One fan said on Twitter: “Will miss her Joanne Linville. Incredible talent! I remember seeing her in Classic HFO. She played a Quack Doctor a Dr. Fremont. It was a 2 part episode Once Upon A Time. Great energy in the character and lights up the screen. An impressive longevity in the business. RIP”
