Status Quo legend Francis Rossi’s tales of rock excess made audience members pass out at his one-man show.
Rossi, 72, recounted “graphic” and “horrific” stories of sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ rock from over 50 years with the hell-raising band.
When he went into detail about the death of former bandmate Rick Parfitt people fainted, the ghost writer of his autobiography has revealed.
Rock author Mick Wall, who accompanied Rossi on his speaking tour, said: “Someone in the audience fainted during the story of Rick’s death, early versions of which were extremely graphic, and I found myself appealing for ‘a doctor in the house’.
When it happened again two weeks later, Francis agreed to make the story shorter and to leave out some of the grislier details.
“When he’s in the mood, he tells some of the most outrageous and extraordinary stories I have ever heard from any rock star.”
Former booze and drugs addict Parfitt died in 2016 aged 68, from sepsis following the infection of a shoulder injury.
Francis also recently hit the headlines after he announced his tour dates in the North East of England.
According to the rock icon he’d received endless abuse from Scottish fans after he’d not played gigs in the region.
After seemingly snubbing mega fans in the north, it was later announced that Aberdeen and Glasgow would feature on the upcoming tour schedule.
Speaking about the abuse, the 72-year-old said: “We got a lot of angry emails to the fanclub when the last tour was announced as there were no dates in Scotland.
“I was even doing a talking tour in Durham and they were asking ‘Why are you not doing Scotland?’
“I was thinking ‘what the f**k has it got to do with you? You’re down here – not up there’.
“But the way this business works is you announce one set of dates before the next and that’s basically all it was – because we would never leave out Scotland.”
