Strictly Come Dancing Craig Revel Horwood's biggest feuds – rumours and on air arguments

Viewers have been hooked since the new series of Strictly Come Dancing began – not just to the performances, but to the drama unfolding between Craig Revel Horwood and fellow judges Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Fans noticed that Craig kept making comments at Motsi Mabuse for “shouting” through dances and at her outfits, with one saying on social media: “I have to say Craig Revel Horwood is bloody grumpy today. Didn’t like his snapping at Motsi at all.”

Others also noticed that he made a swipe at new judge Anton Du Beke as well, after Anton admitted to Katie McGlynn in Week Two that he hadn’t noticed one of the mistakes she made.

Craig said to him: “Anton you need to keep a watchful eye, darling. A little note for Anton.”

Fans took to social media to comment on Craig’s reaction, with one saying: “The Beef between Craig & Anton is sending me”

Another also commented on their previous encounter in 2020, after Craig commented on Anton’s teeth: “last series Craig came for Anton’s teeth now this…is that beef I sense?”

With fans thinking that feuds might be brewing, we look at some of the other highly publicised feuds between Craig Revel Horwood and professional dancers, along with the rumours about another supposed feud.

Brendan Cole

Viewers used to watch in shock and amazement as judge Craig Revel Horwood and former professional dancer Brendan Cole locked horns with each other live on air, as well as behind the scenes.

However, Brendan’s contract wasn’t renewed in 2018, and the professional dancer departed the show, seemingly putting an end to their constant feuding.

The two have made attempts to put an end to their feud off the dance floor too, with a photo on Brendan’s Instagram showing him at Craig’s home in 2019, captioned “A little lunch date at my favourite TV judges house.”

It wasn’t all water under the bridge though, with Craig revealing to Kate Thornton on her programme White Wine Question Time, that their reunion didn’t all go to plan.

“I invited him around two years ago to my house. I hadn’t spoken to him for years. I thought ‘wouldn’t it be nice to see Brendan, just to see if he’s working,” said Craig.

“Anyway he had an electric car. He was showing that off. We hated each other.”

Arlene Phillips

Despite claims that Craig Revel Horwood called Arlene Phillips “s**t at her job”, the judge has said that this couldn’t be any further from the truth and that he and Arlene are not feuding with each other.

The claim was allegedly made on a drunken night out and recounted in former professional dancer Ola Jordan’s autobiography, but Craig later commented on the claims made in the book.

He told The Daily Star on Sunday: “If that’s the only thing they were selling the book on then I’d be scared to read it because it won’t be very interesting.

“The truth is I love Arlene Phillips. Whatever Ola has written about what I said about Arlene is just hearsay and her opinion. I don’t care.”

Arlene was a judge on the show from 2004-2009 and Craig has said he’d love to welcome her back if she wanted to re-join the show.

James Jordan

Craig also had a feud with another member of the Strictly Professional Dancing team, James Jordan, who he labelled “bitter and twisted” in 2020.

After James criticised the standards of the 2020 series of Strictly Come Dancing, Craig told OK! Magazine: “Oh, he would say that. Honestly, we won’t make amends until he stops slagging me off!”

He also added that he could never see Jordan joining the show as a judge, saying: “He’s too bitter, he’s too twisted! We’d have a laugh on the panel – I’d put him in his place!”

The comments followed previous criticism of Craig Revel Horwood from James Jordan regarding a joke that Craig made about Anton Du Beke’s teeth, which backfired.

He told The Daily Star that Strictly does not need a “Mr Nasty” and that no-one would miss Craig if he wasn’t on the show, saying “The show doesn’t need Craig. He should go.”
