Strictly's Anton Du Beke lets slip huge winner hint as he talks 'most consistent couple'

Strictly Come Dancing’s winner could already be written in the stars, as judge – and former Strictly pro dancer – Anton Du Beke gave his opinion on each couple in the semi-final.

Still in his panto costume from his busy rehearsals, Anton appeared via video link on Strictly spin-off show It Takes Two.

And the judge revealed who he thinks is the “most consistent couple” in the programme while chatting to host Janette Manrara about Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice.

But they aren’t the couple Anton seemed to hint at taking the winning spot.

Janette began by quizzing him: “Rose and Giovanni, you mentioned them earlier in our chat. They did the epic lift this week in their American Smooth, they had the beautiful moment in the Couple’s Choice where it was completely silent. Do you think they’ve got any more tricks up their sleeves now for the semi-final?”

Anton replied: “Well that’s a very good point actually, what are you going to add to all that? I think her quality is the thing that she’s going to base her dances on.

“Because she’s got such lovely quality, certainly in the ballroom dances. She’s exquisite. And her Latin dances have improved week after week, so I’m really looking forward to seeing their performance.”

But Anton quickly added: “The most consistent couple through the whole competition, I think, has been John and Johannes, followed very closely by Rose and Giovanni. So it’s going to be epic.”

Janette agreed: “I think it is going to be an epic weekend.”

Fans rushed to share their thoughts on Twitter, with one gushing: “YES ANTON!! John and Johannes have definitely been the most consistent couple.”

A second fan posted: “Totally agree with Anton. John and Johannes are the most consistent couple this year on #Strictly.”

Another tweeted: “Agree that J+J have been the most consistent (and I do love them), but can’t help but feel this is because many of their dances have played it a *bit* safe choreographically.

“If AJ and Kai were actually scored fairly they would also be as consistent!”

Though someone else fumed: “I can’t cope with Anton saying John and Johannes and Rose and Giovanni are the most consistent dancers, and not even mentioning Aj and Kai, ARE YOU JOKING!”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday from 6:45pm on BBC One.
