Strictly Come Dancing professional Katya Jones appeared to have made a snide comment towards Motsi Mabuse claiming her praise was “too late”.
Katya and her celebrity partner Adam Peaty failed to impress judges and viewers with their jive and was eliminated from the show on Sunday night.
However, before they performed their final dance to fight for their place, judge Motsi offered the pair words of encouragement which appeared to have not been received too well by Katya.
After discovering that he was up against Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin in the dreaded dance-off, Adam noted he was pleased to get the chance to perform the routine once again.
Talking to Adam, presenter Tess Daly asked: “I know you really didn’t want to be here again. Are you okay?”
He replied: “It’s a familiar place thankfully but hopefully we can not make a mistake and enjoy dancing together.”
“Well said,” Tess responded. “Motsi, you did say Adam’s Jive had energy, it had personality on Saturday night but there were mistakes.
“Can he rectify that now in the dance-off?”
Motsi answered: “You can definitely rectify now and I do believe if you just breathe a little, relax and trust yourself – you have it in you.”
She added: “Relax, take it step by step because it was a brilliant Jive actually.”
But Katya smiled back at the judge and said: “Too late.”
Remaining positive, Adam said: “I think so. But what I’m finding out with dancing is if I give too much I make mistakes.
“I’ve got to reserve it a little bit, I’ve got to enjoy it because I never know when this experience will be over and I’m so grateful for every dance I get to do.”
Despite their best efforts in the dance off, Adam and Katya was received the least amount of votes from the judges and subsequently had to leave the show.
Explaining his decision, Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood said: “Firstly, I wouldn’t have put these couples in the bottom. That’s just me personally, but seeing they are there and I’ve got to choose, I’m finding it really difficult tonight and this isn’t like me.
“But for the reason of a better dancer and a better dance off scenario, I’m going to choose to save Nikita and Tilly.”
Motsi added: “I mean, it has been a tough competition. All the couples have performed really, really well. One of the biggest lessons I’ve ever learned while judging is music is key, and I think the couple for me that was more sound to the music is going to be Tilly and Nikita.”
Judge Anton Du Beke also voted to save Tilly and Nikita however, head judge Shirley Ballas disagreed with her fellow judges and said she would have voted for Adam and Katya to stay.
Strictly airs Saturdays and Sundays on BBC.
