Strictly's Tess Daly accused of making 'condescending' remark to tearful Rhys Stephenson

Strictly Come Dancing’s Tess Daly has been accused of being “condescending” towards Rhys Stephenson as he broke down in tears after performing on Saturday night’s live show.

The popular host consoled the CBBC presenter as he became tearful after dancing a waltz to You Light Up My Life by Whitney Houston.

Overcome with emotion, Rhys explained how last week was tough for him, as he was in the dance-off. Getting more tearful, Tess consoled the star, but fans weren’t impressed with the way in which she did.

“Aw, come on darling. Aw Rhys, come over sweetheart,” she said to him.

“Are you crying honey? Are you having a little cry? I know you were so nervous. Aw I know you were really nervous and you really wanted to do well.”

He replied: “I’m so sorry, it’s so embarrassing,” as he wiped away the tears.

Tess then said: “You don’t want to be in that dance off again do you? Not at all.”

Viewers were quick to flock to Twitter to discuss the way in which Tess spoke to the star.

“Tess was so condescending with Rhys,” one viewer said.

Another said: “Tess makes my toes curl. She needn’t have brought attention to Rhys like that. We could all see he was emotional.”

A third wrote: “”The way Tess talked to Rhys was THE creepiest thing I’ve ever watched on tv. “Awwww you having a little cry?” *gags*”

While a fourth said: “Tess speaking to Rhys in that baby voice is making me feel a bit nauseous…”

Some fans thought that Tess was ‘patronising’

A fifth penned: “Could Tess be any more patronising to Rhys, oh, are you having a little cry?”

This comes as fans have been left “fuming” with this week’s dance-off results after they were leaked online, once again.

The #StrictlySpoiler was revealed last night, again, and avid viewers of the popular dancing competition are not happy over who reportedly landed in the bottom two.
