Strictly's Tess Daly snaps at Craig Revel-Horwood as he picks apart John Whaite dance

Strictly Come Dancing’s 2021 final took a heated turn when host Tess Daly stepped in to slam Craig Revel-Horwood.

The glam Strictly judge broke character for a second and snapped at judge Craig when he picked apart holes in John Whaite’s pirate-themed paso doble.

Tensions rose in the studio during the grand finale of the hit dancing show – which aired to BBC One at 7pm on Saturday night (December 18).

Bake Off star John had just performed one of his final dances of the series with professional dance partner Johannes Radebe before it kicked off between Tess and Craig.

For their Favourite Dance, John and Johannes chose the paso doble to He’s A Pirate from the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.

John and Johannes had been up against EastEnders actress Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice in the emotional last episode.

Judges Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Shirley Ballas loved the routine – and had no bad words to say about it.

However, when Tess got to Craig, it seemed like he wasn’t quite so keen at first.

Tess asked Craig: “Craig, John was one mark off the perfect score the first time round that he performed this paso, so what do you think tonight?”

Craig replied: “Well, your little finger did bother me…”

Tess and the studio audience erupted in boos, and Tess cried out: “Oh, come on!”

She then asked: “Are you kidding me? Are you joking?”

Craig then burst out laughing before saying: “I loved it – great! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.”

Tess then feigned wiping away sweat from her head as she said: “Thank goodness…”

All four judges, including Craig, scored John and Johannes 10 points – making the dance a perfect 40.

Tess looked gorgeous in the final – and she walked out in a glam white dress with a thigh-revealing split down the front.

Fans were swooning over her look, with one commenting: “Tess in a gorgeous dress.”

A second said: “Tess’ dress” with a swooning emoji.”

A third added: “Both Tess and Claudia’s final dresses are lush.”

It was Rose who won the show in the end after dazzling the public with her three final routines.
