Take The High Road actress Gwyneth Guthrie has died at the age of 84, her family has confirmed.
The star, who played Mrs Mary Mack in the Scottish daytime soap opera, appeared on the show between 1983 and 2003.
In a statement confirming her death, Gwyneth’s family said: “It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our amazing mum, Gwyneth Guthrie.
“She passed peacefully on Tuesday November 9, at home and surrounded by her loving family.
“She will be playing to her next audience in heaven.”
Take The High Road was a Scottish drama set in a fictional village called Glendarroch, which was actually filmed in Luss on the banks of Lock Lomond.

Gwyneth joined in its fifth series in 1983, but it hit screens for the first time in 1980 and ended in 2003.
Elsewhere in her career, the actress enjoyed roles in the likes of Taggart, Doctor Finlay, King’s Royal and Mother of Men.
Bobby Hain, managed director of channel STV on which Take The High Road was aired, paid tribute to the actress.

He said: “We at STV are so saddened to hear the news about Gwyneth Guthrie.
“For 20 years, Gwyneth played the iconic character of Mrs Mack in Take The High Road, bringing her own wonderful comic timing and dramatic flair which made her beloved across the UK.
“Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family at this sad time.”
The classic show recently found a renewed audience after it was added to the channel’s streaming service to tie in with its 40th anniversary.

However one person that idea wouldn’t have appealed to is Gwyneth herself, as she confessed she didn’t watch her own work back.
Speaking last year, she said: “I’ve never watched myself because I know myself and I just thought that’s not for me.
“It’s an honour that it’s back on. It’s lovely that people enjoy it so much. I’m so pleased, it means it’s got a longer life than I realised and does our country no harm.”
