Talk show legend Larry King 'hospitalised after contracting coronavirus'

Talk show icon Larry King has been hospitalised after contracting Covid-19, reports say.

The 87-year-old TV and CNN star was recently admitted to hospital in Los Angeles for medical attention while battling the virus, according to Showbiz411.

The report also states Larry contracted coronavirus over 10 days ago.

Larry, who has been on TV for decades including CNN, is at greater risk due to his age.

The TV personality has also suffered from various health issues in the past, including prostate and lung cancer, as well as a heart attack.

He was left in a coma ‘for weeks’ in 2019 after suffering a near-fatal stroke.

It’s reported that his family, including his wife Shawn King and two sons, Chance and Cannon, are unable to visit him in hospital as he is in isolation.

Larry is on good terms with his wife of 22 years despite the pair being in the process of divorce, it’s believed.

The broadcasting legend is known for his long-running guest interview show on CNN, The Larry King Show, the broadcaster’s most watched and longest-running programme.

The news follows a difficult year for the star, having lost two children in 2020.

The TV host paid tribute to his daughter Chaia King and son Andy King, who both died within three weeks of each other over the summer.

Following their passing, Larry opened up about his family’s heartbreak in a statement.

“It is with sadness and a father’s broken heart that I confirm the recent loss of two of my children, Andy King, and Chaia King,” Larry said at the time.

“Both of them were good and kind souls and they will be greatly missed.

“Andy passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on July 28th, and Chaia passed on August 20th, only a short time after having been diagnosed with lung cancer.”

He added: “Losing them feels so out of order. No parent should have to bury a child. My family and I thank you for your outpouring of kind sentiments and well wishes.”

Southern California has been the site of one of the country’s worst coronavirus cases surges.

There were at least 1,917 deaths on January 1 alone in the United States.

The Daily Star has approached representatives for Larry King for comment.
