The Chase fans outraged as three players 'ruin show' by plumping for low offer

The Chase fans were left outraged on Monday as a whopping three contestants opted for the lower offer while playing against The Vixen.

Known for always being at the top of her game, the players might have been right to fear Jenny Ryan, with Anton being the first to opt for the lower offer of £1,000 after securing £6,000 in the cash builder.

And Jenny still managed to catch him, knocking him out of the Final Chase.

Later, Laura and Edd both went for their low offers of £1,000 apiece – despite Edd wanting to score enough money to fund his retirement.

But Bridie, Edd and Laura all made it through to the Final Chase, but with a measly prize pot of £9,000 after Bridie secured £7,000 in her round.

And fans of the show definitely weren’t impressed, as they flocked to social media in droves to share their outrage: “Low ballers on the Chase have ruined my day!” one posted.

Another added: “3 low offers taken!”

“I wish I’d gone for a nap instead,” one complained.

Laura’s decision came as fellow contestant Edd told her there “wasn’t much difference” between the £3,000 she’d secured and the low offer – so she might as well go low.

The three remaining players managed to score 18 in the Final Chase, and went up against Jenny once more.

But they got plenty of pushback opportunities, with Jenny slipping up on both a geography and chemistry question.

She also slipped up on a question about palaces in London – the answer to which was the Tower of London – and a question about Hinduism.

And Jenny couldn’t quite manage to recover enough – letting the team head off into the sunset with £9,000 to share between three.

Thankfully, social media users were glad that the team had emerged victorious, with one commenting: “Well played team!”

“They actually won and nobody predicted that, myself included!” someone else typed.

It’s a far cry from the biggest team win on the show – in 2018, a team made up of Diane, Luca, Tim and Gayna made off with £100,000 when playing against The Governess, Anne Hegerty.

And the biggest solo win came back in 2019, as player Judith scored a whopping £70,000 while facing The Vixen by herself.
