The Chase viewers were left scratching their heads while watching a throwback episode of the ITV quiz show on Monday.
Presenter Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the studio and was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.
Mark Labbett, aka The Beast, was in the hot seat trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.
Pauline, Ieuan, Catherine and Geoff all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.
Things didn’t go quite to plan for contestant Geoff during his cash builder round.
Host Bradley asked the player: “What dairy product can go before burger, cake and straw?”
IT engineer Geoff, 62, answered “beef” and Bradley quickly informed him that the correct answer was cheese.
Viewers at home rushed to their keyboard to discuss Geoff’s major blunder on the quiz show.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Beef straws.”
Another joked: “Beef? How dairy.”
A third person posted: “Beef straws?! Where’s the dairy in that?”
While a fourth said: “That dairy product. Beef.”
Despite his small stumble on the food question, Geoff managed to sail through to the final round of the competition and added a whooping £6,000 to the prize fund.
Contestants Catherine and Pauline joined Geoff in the final round, and the trio took on The Beast in a series of quick-fire questions.
The team managed to score 18 points, giving them a steady chance of not getting caught by the Chaser.
However, things didn’t go to plan as The Beast managed to answer 18 questions with 33 seconds to spare.
Bradley pointed out that contestant Catherine looked disappointed and she told the presenter that it was because the game was “close”.
