The Masked Singer UK viewers were left fuming as they tuned into the Christmas Day singalong special.
Fans of the wacky ITV guessing game show were expecting to see a selection of new famous faces take to the stage in outrageous costumes so they could work out who they could be.
However, Saturday’s festive episode wasn’t what they thought it would be.
Host Joel Dommett returned to our television screens to present the special episode which looked back at some of the iconic performances from series one and two.
Viewers could also join in as the lyrics to each song were included at the bottom of the screen in a karaoke-style manner.
Unhappy viewers took to Twitter to share their disappointment as they thought they’d be watching a new batch of contestants take to the stage.
One fan penned: “@ITV What the hell is this about? Basically a programme saying the viewers couldn’t work out or look up what the performers were singing in the original programme. A total waste of Christmas prime time TV. A repeat!
Another raged: “@MaskedSingerUK You cannot be serious if you think this is entertaining on Xmas day????”
A third person posted: “”Whhaatt I thought was an Xmas special?!””
While a fourth social media user said: “”Oh god this is just repeats from the series. Boooooo. Thought it was a new one.”
However, fans do not have long to wait before the third series airs on ITV.
Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan will be back on detective duty on New Year’s Day with 12 brand-new contestants.
Fans will have to guess the true identity of Chandelier, Bagpipes, Lionfish, Doughnuts, Traffic Cone, Panda, Rockhopper, Mushroom, Firework, Poodle, Snow Leopard and Robobunny.
Former Big Brother star Davina has teased that fans are going to be treated to some very emotional performances next year.
The bubbly TV personality said: “Rockhopper did a performance that was so lovely and afterwards we could see that Rockhopper was actually crying after their performance.
“I felt like we needed to give them a moment to compose themselves.
