Tipping Point fans baffled by player's 'potato' answer to Ben Shephard question

Viewers couldn’t help but see the funny side of Friday’s episode of Tipping Point as a contestant accidentally said a weird answer to Ben Shephard’s question.

Contestants on Tipping Point are often faced with an immense amount of pressure while on the show and a contestant named Jennifer evidently felt the pressure more than most.

Jennifer was on her last legs while on the show, and though she was given several chances to make money, she was unable to secure any funds in her bank.

To top things off, Ben asked Jennifer a fairly simple question, but her answer left viewers rather baffled.

Ben asked: “Which small round vegetable, shares its name with a bright shade of green?”

Quickly jumping on her buzzer, Jennifer responded “potatoes”.

Viewers couldn’t help but see the funny side to it all and took to Twitter to air their views.

One Tipping Point fan joked: “To be fair, potatoes can be green.”

Another said: “I’m going to paint the lounge potato #tippingpoint.”

While a third Twitter user said: “That well-known colour Potato Green.”

While others were taken aback by how Jennifer confidently got the question incorrect.

After failing to secure any money and getting her final question wrong, Jennifer was the first contestant to leave the show on Friday.

Although Friday’s game saw contestant Arshad storm into the head-to-head round with £2,400 – £1,500 more than his rival Connor.

Viewers were also concerned with the contestants’ button-pushing techniques, which also caused an ongoing debate among viewers on Twitter.

Fans complained that it was all down to when players would press the buttons for the counters in the machine to drop, as counters started to “ride” on top of others.

One viewer complained: “If you don’t want it to ride, then press the button at the right time.”

While another screeched: “Don’t know why it stresses me out so much when someone keeps pressing the button too early.”

But to be fair on the contestants, things always look easier when you play the game from the comfort of the living room.

Tipping Point airs on weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
