Ben Shephard says hosting Tipping Point makes him a target for trolls.
The show involves a giant arcade game and trivia – but some viewers take it way too seriously.
Ben said: “I love getting messages from people who love the show. But unfortunately social media isn’t always like that. I get messages from quite a few people moaning about stuff.
“There is a passionate following for Tipping Point and sometimes people take things too seriously.
“It’s been there for a long time, so it is woven into the fabric of people’s day. They feel like they know it, so they get frustrated.
“They get frustrated if they think the machine isn’t being fair or they don’t like the questions.”
Ben wants fans to chill out a bit and just enjoy the show. He added: “Everyone has got to remember that it’s an entertainment show. It’s about enjoyment.
“It’s very easy to sit at home and criticise people on TV.
“But the people who are brave enough to come to the studio and give it a go deserve praise.”
Tipping Point has been on telly for almost a decade and Ben can’t quite believe how successful it has become.
He said: “I’ve done plenty of shows that didn’t come back for a second series, but with Tipping Point we are about to start series 13.
“It’s a privilege and something I take great pride in.
“I still get the same amount of joy from it as when we started.”
Ben appeared on the show as the host since 2012 and many fans still shower him with support, despite some backlash from viewers.
Aside from his hosting duties on the gameshow, Ben has also had stints presenting on Good Morning Britain this year with Susanna Reid.
