Travis Scott has broken his silence and spoken out to fans after eight people died at Astroworld Festival on Friday night.
The rapper has made a desperate plea for witnesses to step forward to share evidence after hundreds were injured, including a 10-year-old boy who is fighting for his life.
The star says he “could never imagine the severity” of the surge of the sell-out festival and was “devastated” when crowds rushed the stage.
Travis continued to perform for at least 30 minutes during the tragic events despite fans chanting for him to stop, as he was unaware of the horror that was unfolding beyond the stage.
The 29-year-old, who shares a daughter with reality star Kylie Jenner, spoke on his Instagram Stories.
he said: “I just want to send out prayers to the ones who were lost last night.
“We are working right now to identify their families so we can help assist them through this tough time.
“My fans really mean the world to me and I always wanna leave them with a positive experience and anytime I can make out anything that’s going on, I stop the show and help them get the help they need, you know?
“I could just never imagine the severity of the situation.”
he continued: “We’ve been working closely with everyone to just try to get to the bottom of this. The city of Houston, HPD fire department, everyone to help us figure this out.
“If you have any information, please just contact the local authorities.”
He added: “Everybody continue to just keep your prayers.
“I mean, I’m honestly just devastated and I could never imagine anything like this happening. I’m going to do everything I can to keep you guys updated. To keep you guys informed on what’s going on. I love you all.”
At least eight people have been confirmed dead following the disaster, including a young teenage aged only 14 years old.
Although reports suggest there may have been as many as 300 injured, with 100 fans seeking medical attention at a pop-up health centre after the festival.
Police say a 10-year-old child is in critical condition in hospital, with dozens more in hospital.
It comes after officers claim a man injected security with drugs before a number of fans stormed through the gates starting a stampede.
Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said on Saturday: “One of the narratives was that some individual was injecting other people with drugs.
“We do have a report of a security officer, according to the medical staff that was out and treated him last night.
“He was reaching over to restrain or grab a citizen and he felt a prick in his neck.
“He went unconscious, they administered Narcan. He was revived, and medical staff did notice a prick similar to a prick you would get if somebody was trying to inject.”
Travis had previously broken his silence on the tragedy in a note posted to social media reading: “I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival.
“Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into this tragic loss of life.
“I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support the families in need. Thank you to Houston PD, Fire Department and the NRG Park for their immediate response and support.”
