A new game show called Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide has been brought to a crashing halt by a nightmare bathroom bombshell – an outbreak of explosive diarrhoea.
The upcoming NBC game show had been filming in Simi, California but production has been shut down after the outbreak of explosive diarrhoea wreaked havoc on the set.
This comes after at least one crew member tested positive for giardia, which is a microscopic parasite that causes diarrhoea if you swallow it.
The parasite can be found on surfaces as well as in food, soil or water that has been contaminated with faeces from infected people or animals.
During the toilet-related disaster, up to 40 crew members fell victim to the “awful explosive diarrhoea” which left people “collapsing” on set and “being forced to run into port-o-potties”, reports The Wrap.
The hellish outbreak, which began on June 2, led to a series of on-set tests, which prompted samples of water from a pond, well, slide pool, water truck and bathroom sinks being tested for giardia – luckily all came back negative.
However, the giardia parasite was found on the set after additional testing which came back on June 10.
A statement from Universal Television Alternative Studios read: “The health and safety of everyone on our set is our number one priority, so out of an abundance of caution we have made the decision to stop production of Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide at the current location.
“We are in the process of determining next steps in order to complete production.”
It has been confirmed that the hosts of the show – Bobby Moynihan and Ron Funches – have not been affected by the outbreak.
As stated by NBC, Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide: “Takes Wham-O’s classic 1960s outdoor game into a wet-and-wild water park filled with slippery slides that will give competitors a chance to win a big cash prize.”
Teams comprised of friends, family and colleagues will go head-to-head in quirky tasks like Body Bowling, Human Pong and Bocce Fall to take home the money.
According to People, the show only had a week left of scheduled production to complete when it things took a turn for the worse.
The show is set to premiere on August 8.
