Zoe Sugg dropped from AQA GCSE syllabus after posting online sex toy reviews

YouTube legend Zoe Sugg has been cut from AQA’s GCSE syllabus after posting a series of sex toy reviews online.

The online sensation had been working with the educational body since 2017 but now bosses believe she is no longer suitable for a teenage demographic.

They believe over the years Zoe’s content has moved away from teenagers to adults.

In a statement explaining their decision to part ways, Sandra Allan, AQA’s Head of Curriculum for Creative Arts, said: “GCSE Media Studies includes the analysis of online and social media and we added Zoella in 2017.

“At the time, all her content was appropriate for teaching, but some of Zoella’s recent content is aimed specifically at an adult audience and isn’t suitable for GCSE students.”

They added: “As a result, we’ve removed the section on Zoella from the course, and we’ve contacted our schools and colleges to let them know.”

After starting Vlogging in 2007, Zoe, who is the sister of Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg, now has over 11 million followers online.

Earlier this month Zoe, who is now 30-years-old, tweeted a link to her latest online review – a collection of the ‘best sex toys to spice up your life in 2021’.

The frank post went into detail about how to enjoy ‘next level masturbation’ for all budgets.

On the list was everything from a standard bullet toy to a ‘pulsating tongue-mimicking machine’.

Away from sex toys, Zoe has also live streamed herself getting a smear test in a bid to help raise awareness for cervical cancer.

Keen to raise awareness for female health, Zoe has also teamed up with WaterAid to help launch a range of ‘period bags’.

The campaign aimed to help women around the world manage their periods safely.

Zoe is yet to personally comment on AQA’s decision.

A spokesperson for Zoella told The Sun: “As a woman in her 30s who has been creating content online for over 10 years, Zoe has naturally matured and evolved in that time, as have her audience.

“The article appeared on Zoella.co.uk the lifestyle website that was originally founded by Zoe and is now curated by her and her team covering topics from mental health, fertility, sex, recipes, books, beauty and fashion.

“The website is primarily targeted at their largest demographic of 25-34 year old women.”
