'The Girls' Scoops Best Picture at 2021 Goya Awards

The Pilar Palomero-directed movie wins big at this year’s Goya Awards in Spain as it collects the top prizes including Best Picture and Best New Director.

AceShowbizPilar Palomero‘s “The Girls” triumphed at Spain’s Goya Awards on Saturday (06Mar21) , picking up picture, screenplay, and cinematography prizes.

The film also landed Palomero a Best New Director honour.

There were also multiple wins for Salvador Calvo‘s “Adu” including Best Director and Best Production Design, “Ane” including a Best Actress win for Patricia Lopez, and “Akelarre“. Mario Casas was named Best Actor for his role in “No mataras“.

The 35th Goya Awards, hosted by Antonio Banderas, featured stars receiving trophies virtually or on-site at an audience-less Teatro del Soho CaixaBank.

Pedro Almodovar, Penelope Cruz, and Paz Vega were among the presenters while Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Charlize Theron were among the Hollywood A-listers who recorded special messages.
