Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary takeover This Morning with Holly and Phil absent

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have confirmed that they are here to stay on This Morning.

The twosome, who normally step in to host Friday’s episode have revealed that they will be on-screens for a solid two weeks.

Usual presenters Holly Willoughby, 41, and Phillip Schofield, 60, were nowhere to be seen but their absence was explained last week, with the pair now off for summer.

Fans of the daytime favourite appeared to be divided, with avid Holly and Phil fans penning on Twitter that they will now be flipping channels.

One message read: “Skiving off work day #ThisMorning,” including a meme of Holly and Phil laughing.

Alison and Dermot confirm This Morning takeover

Another penned: “Thats me off for 2 weeks #ThisMorning,” after the two week takeover was announced.

While others were thrilled, adding: “Yes Alison & Dermot are back #ThisMorning,” and “These two are my favourite presenters because it’s not all about them #thismorning.”

Clearing up any confusion, Alison said: “Welcome to your first This Morning of the week.

“Dermot O’Leary, how are you?”

He excitedly responded: “We’re here for two weeks.”

Chiming in, Alison beamed: “You’ve got us for two whole weeks, it’s your lucky day. In fact it’s your lucky two weeks.”

Holly and Phil are officially on their summer break from July 11 – today and ITV have lined up many co-stars who are ready and waiting to step up into their role.

Alison confirmed that she and Dermot would be taking over as hosts for the next two weeks which came as quite a welcomed surprise for adoring viewers.

Alison and Dermot, who usually just host on Friday’s, were unusually at the helm on Monday.

To clear up any confusion, Alison said: “Welcome to your first This Morning of the week.

“Dermot O’Leary, how are you?”

He excitedly responded: “We’re here for two weeks.”

Chiming in, Alison beamed: “You’ve got us for two whole weeks, it’s your lucky day. In fact it’s your lucky two weeks.”

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am.
