Alison Hammond is set to be ITV’s new “queen of TV” but fears “stepping on Holly Willoughby’s toes” according to new reports.
The former Big Brother star has proven her popularity with ITV viewers since teaming up with Dermot O’Leary to become regular co-hosts of hit daytime show This Morning.
Now rumours are rife that Alison, 47, is the top choice to host their reboot of Big Brother – the show she rose to fame on in 2002 – when it hits ITV2 next year.

However, whilst she is “inundated” with top job offers, according to insiders Alison is now “freaking out behind the scenes.”
A source told Closer magazine: “Alison is definitely ITV ’s new queen of TV and while many are surprised Holly isn’t being lined up for the Big Brother job, it’s a no-brainer to give it to Alison.
“She’s been really shocked to be this in demand at this point in her career and ITV are determined for her to become their next big star, and they want to strike while the iron is hot.”
Reports claim that while the team behind Alison believe she is “completely unique” and are encouraging her to take the deals she is offered, she is worried about the repercussions.
The source continued: “But Alison is freaking out behind the scenes. She doesn’t want to be accused of stepping on Holly’s toes. She’s afraid to bring anything up with her, even though she thinks Holly will be supportive – she’s embarrassed.”
The insider also claims that bosses at ITV want to get Alison in a “golden handcuffs” deal – a contract which would mean she is only allowed to work for ITV unless she gets special permission from the channel execs to be able to work for another channel.
They have never managed to get holly – who earns a reported £730,000 a year from ITV alone – to enter into such a contract.
This means fans have also seen her front shows on rival channels such as the BBC’s Freeze The Fear and Take Off with Bradley and Holly.
