American rapper Snootie Wild 'fighting for life' after gun wound to the neck

Rapper Snootie Wild is reported to be fighting for his life following a recent shooting.

The musician, whose real name is LePreston Porter, was recently discovered in his SUV that had been driven into a ditch on Friday in Houston, Texas.

According to reports, police arrived at the scene after they were informed of shots fired by the Shotspotter Program, ABC13.

The popular rapper received CPR at the scene and was later taken to an area hospital, authorities have claimed.

Describing what he believes could have happened, Officer R. Willkens said: “It looks like he backed in there (the ditch) accidentally. Then the other vehicle pulled up, and folks got out of the car.”

The Officer also revealed that only one shot was fired at the time.

“They were talking for a little bit, and then all of a sudden, gunfire went off. Only one shot, actually.”

Investigators say the entire incident was caught on camera by a neighbor nearby.

A recent statement that has been posted on Snootie’s social media account reads: “Snootie is not DEAD! But he is fighting for his life.

“Out of respect for the family, please refrain from sharing anything that is not communicated through his official accounts. Thank you.”

According to reports, doctors have given the Memphis rapper a 50/50 chance of survival.

Snootie is well known to fans for his hit song Yayo featuring Down In The DM rapper Yo Gotti.

In 2013, it was announced that Yo Gotti had signed Snootie to his Collective Music Group (CMG) imprint.

Two years later, in 2015 Snootie released the mixtape Ain’t No Stoppin, which included the single Rich or Not.

The following year, the star was featured on the track Believe by the rapper Master P which also appeared on the latter’s mixtape, The G Mixtap.

Since the news of the shooting and Snootie’s condition broke fans have shared their thoughts online.

On Twitter, one fan penned: “Prayers up for #SnootieWild’s family.”

Another upset fan said: “Damn now snootie Wild shot in the neck. Smh prayers up.”

While others shared prayer hands emojis online.

Snootie is the father of four children.
