Ant and Dec have teased an emotional moment that stood out on the upcoming series of Britain’s Got Talent after revealing they surprised an audience member with the chance to audition.

The TV favourites opened up about an ‘emotional’ moment they experienced that saw them invite a talented fan to compete Infront of the judges after planning the surprise with his two daughters.

Asked about their most emotional moment on the show, Ant revealed: “There were a few. We surprised somebody in the audience. He was surprised by his daughters and was asked to come on stage and perform that day.

“He thought he had just come to watch the show! He went away for an hour or two, rehearsed, and then at the end of that session came back and performed the song. That was very emotional.”

Dec also dubbed the moment a “tear-jerker before gushing about the “amazing” format.

He said: “That was a tear-jerker! That’s what’s amazing about BGT is that you never quite know the next act if it’s going to have you in tears, in hysterics, floods of rage because it’s not as good as you’d hoped.

“You just never know what emotions you’re going to feel for the next act. That’s what’s so magic about it.”

In a new show shake-up, Britain’s Got Talent judges are set to visit contestants to personally invite them to audition for the ITV show.

While the show has been known to pull on the heart strings on occasion, a new segment dubbed Judges Golden Moments is set to do so even more, as the judges go meet contestants away from the prying eyes of the audience to personally ask them to compete.

According to a source who spoke to The Mirror, “the new element will produce some heart-warming moments’ as ‘the judges are going to meet people but they don’t know they are coming”.

“The idea is to highlight some brilliant people and tell their story in a different way. It really helps to make their auditions memorable and special,” they said.

The talent competition is finally returning this weekend after last airing in 2020, with Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden on the judging panel and Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly back to present.

A trailer released this week featured a first look at this year’s hopefuls, including a lookalike of the media mogul, shocking moments that will leave the judges covering their faces in horror and spectacular musical performances.
