Antiques Roadshow viewers horrified by 'scary' statues worth a whopping £20k

Antiques Roadshow viewers were left terrified by two statues that one person reckoned looked like they’d “steal your soul”.

The huge wooden figures were taken to Sunday night’s instalment of the BBC show, which was held at Ulster Folk Museum, which is near Belfast.

Expert Ronnie Archer Morgan was tasked with valuing the creepy-looking statues and was blown away by the interesting find, saying it was a “real thrill” to have the chance to talk about them on the programme.

But viewers thought the wooden figures were seriously “scary”.

Some people thought the statues were scary

Sharing a snap of one of the statues on Twitter, one person teased: “I will steal your soul while you sleep.”

Someone else shared a similar shot, quipping: “Who are you looking at? Do you want some? On the cobbles? No weapons?”

“Oh do f*** off you miserable f***,” one viewer said of the second carving, while one person said they both looked like they should be firewood unless they were worth money.

“Haven’t the figurines got a gnome to go 2?” one viewer quipped.

Another viewer joked that they could be chart stars Boy George and Ozzy Osbourne.

Ronnie explained that one of the figures was of St Anthony Abbot and that one was Joseph of Arimathea, who was one of the followers of Jesus.

And he stunned viewers when he valued the 16th century statues at between £7,000 and £10,000 each – meaning the owner could be set to pocket a whopping £20,000 if he decided to sell.

“£20,000 … Never !! Never!! Never !!” tweeted one gobsmacked viewer.

The owner was also a bit shocked at the hefty sum, and admitted that he hadn’t predicted it all.

“That was completely unexpected, I must say,” he gasped when he was told their worth.

“I mean, I like them but no-one else seems to in the family!”
