One BBC Breakfast star has opened up about being at high risk of developing breast cancer in a candid update shared with fans.
Dr. Helen Wall, the programme’s resident GP, said she “hates” heading for her annual cancer screening after her mum contracted the disease in her 40s.
Taking to Twitter, Helen shared a snap of herself wearing a hospital gown in a treatment room, with blotches on her skin from lying face down in an MRI scanner and her brown hair fixed into an up-do.

The doctor penned: “8am annual high risk #breastscreening. Hate it. Every year. Lying face down in MRI for 30 min stripped off.
“I hate the fact my mum got #breastcancer in her 40s even more & I refuse to let my kids go through same.”
She added: “Don’t normally share but I start as screening lead tomorrow.”
The Bolton-based doctor learned her mum had cancer when she was just nine years old, and her mum battled cancer for 15 years before her tragic death in 2006.
Dr. Wall told Manchester Evening News last year: “My mum had breast cancer when I was nine.
“I remember it vividly. Watching tears turn to anger turn to denial and then to fight.
“The days she spent in hospital, the friends collecting us from school while she had chemotherapy.
“Just 47-years-old and for 13 years she was a breast cancer survivor.”
Her mum sadly lost her battle just eight weeks before her daughter’s wedding day.
