BBC Breakfast viewers lashed out at one segment on the morning programme which saw Naga Munchetty, Charlie Stayt and Mike Bushell get crafty making paper aeroplanes.
The hosts were discussing the Paper Airplane World Championships, which sees paper engineers get together to compete in categories like Distance and Aerobatics.
But fans were quick to brand the segment “inane” as the hosts began folding paper around the red sofa.
Charlie sounded a little grumpy as he explained: “Inevitably, we have all been set the task of building a plane,” as Naga admitted she was “useless” at making paper aeroplanes at school.
She added: “I’ve just been told in my ear that my plane’s going nowhere!”

Viewers thought the segment was a “waste of time” and quickly took to social media to share their thoughts, as one wrote: “Is it ‘cute’ or something to make really bad paper airplanes then make your viewers endure fake jollity whilst said airplanes fail. I for one am bored by this inane waste of time. Embarrassing. #BBCBreakfast.”
Someone else added in all caps: “BBC Breakfast presenters making paper planes on BBC Breakfast live, what is the BBC doing? I thought Breakfast on BBC One and BBC News channel not about paper planes really!”

Another fuming viewer said: “War, foodbanks, poverty, starving children, disease, torture. Abused women, children, animals and protesters. Brexit, climate change. All this sh** in the world right now. And the @BBCNews @BBCBreakfast are doing a news story about throwing paper aeroplanes around. WTAF.”
“How about ditching trite nonsense like this,” another suggested.
However, other viewers were loving a bit of a shake-up in the studio, hailing the segment “comedy gold”.

One fan gushed: “BBC Breakfast messing about with paper airplanes trying to beat the record of 50+ meters in a studio no bigger than 10meters wide was comedy gold. (Not that ANY made it further than a meter)”.
Someone else then giggled: “Watching @TVNaga01 and co try to make and fly paper aeroplanes on @BBCBreakfast has made my morning. Naga won in my opinion!”
“Paper planes – pure gold!” a third tweeted.
Even weather presenter Matt Taylor joined in on the action online, sharing a video with his fans of his own attempt at making a plane – which made it a fair distance along the corridor.
He joked with fans: “In my defence… holding a camera steady and throwing a paper plane at the same time shows some considerable talent.”
