BBC Breakfast star Charlie Stayt took a savage swipe at his co-star Carol Kirkwood – joking that she never paid attention to his BBC programme.
Unfortunately for Charlie, his co-host Naga Munchetty jumped to Carol’s defence when she cried: “How rude!”
BBC weather star Carol Kirkwood had just finished telling BBC viewers all about what weather they can expect from the day when Charlie stopped the show to mock Carol on camera.
However, Carol was quick to defend herself.
Handing the show back to Charlie and Naga on the red sofa, Carol concluded: “By night we can expect some fog, Naga and Charlie…”
Charlie didn’t want to let Carol go just yet, though, because he asked her if she’d caught their previous segment with actor Martin Clunes, who had been plugging his ITV documentary – Islands of the Pacific.
Charlie asked: “Carol, did you listen to Martin Clunes just a moment ago?”
He then savagely joked: “I’m not sure. Do you ever listen to what’s going on on this programme?”
Naga remarked: “How rude!”
Carol looked gobsmacked by the comment at first, but she soon started laughing.
Firing back, Carol said: “Well, Charlie I am. I’m also working whilst the programme’s going on air,” and Charlie finally conceded: “I know…”
Carol explained that she had heard the end of the segment with Martin’s dog.
Later on, Charlie asked Carol if she had a dream location in her mind that she’d love to visit someday – following on from Martin Clune’s travel documentary.
The weather star, who is an expert in matter of Geography, answered that she’d like to go to the South Pacific island of Tahiti as it sounds “idyllic”.
Carol said: “It just sounds idyllic. I’ve got an image of it in my mind and of course I’ve seen pictures of it, and I’d just love to go.”
