BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker has called out government ministers after a representative failed to appear on the show.
It comes as the public continue to share their fury surrounding the allegations that Number 10 Downing Street hosted a garden party during the peak of the pandemic on May 20, 2020.
The 44 year old explained to viewers at home how the show would usually give the political leaders a chance to address speculation around the claims that the Prime Minister broke lockdown rules last year.
But in an unusual turn of events, the dad-of-three and his co-host Nina Warhust were left empty-handed after their offer for government member to appear on the show and shed light on the situation was denied.

Instead, the pair speculated on the controversial topic with Sebastian Payne, Whitehall editor for the Financial Times and Ayesha Hazarika from the Evening Standard who was a former Number 10 advisor under a labour government.
During Wednesday’s instalment of the popular morning show, Dan and Nina explained how the show was forced to change their usual format after their interview offers were denied.
The former Strictly star said: “Now, normally at this time – if you’re a regular watcher – we would hear from a government minister.

“We asked at quarter past eleven yesterday morning and throughout the day until nine o’clock last night but no minister was offered to come on and explain exactly what has happened.
“Nothing that could help us understand what exactly is going on at the moment.”
Nina went on to note that there was still an opportunity for a government minister to appear on the show should they have a change of heart before they signed off at nine o’clock.

She added: “But that offer does remain for any government minister who wants to appear and we will make a space before Breakfast is off air just after nine am.”
Dan also tweeted out their offer for a government minister to appear on the show at quarter past seven while the pair were live on air.
He wrote: “For those asking … we did ask for a government minister to speak to us on #BBCBreakfast this morning but no-one was available.
“The offer remains. We are on until 915.”
It comes as Boris Johnson prepares to face the Prime Minister’s questions around whether or not he attended that garden party during lockdown later this afternoon.
