BBC Breakfast's Dan Walker offers rare tour inside studio with Sally Nugent

Dan Walker gave fans a rare tour inside the BBC Breakfast studios – but he couldn’t help having a laugh with co-star Sally Nugent as he did so.

The BBC presenter took to Twitter to share a clip just before his morning show on Tuesday (March 22), which he anchors Monday to Wednesday from 6am.

In the upbeat video, Dan and his co-host Sally could be seen walking onto their set at MediaCityUk in Salford.

Chatting to his fans, Dan said: “Just wondering through the BBC Breakfast offices. Look who I’ve found here, Sally Nugent’s in front of me.”

Sally then turned around to say “hi” as Dan panned the camera around to a huge open-plan studio room filled with desks and tech instruments – which was at least four floors high.

Spotting Sally’s run, Dan channeled his Ford Focus sports pundit skills as he commentated: “Just sprinting gently into the studio.”

Walker said: “Maybe if I run up here, I’ll catch her.”

He then panned the camera round to a large decorated wall appearing to showing Charlie Stayt and Nina Warhurst.

Sally then ran across the corridor, and Dan laughed: “There she is!”

Later in the vid, Dan wished the production team a good morning as he showed fans into the famous red studio, kitted out with the show’s iconic red sofa.

Dan’s colleagues could be seen working away on various screens as they prepared for broadcast, fitted with high-quality headphones and other gadgets.

The ceiling of the spacious studio was lined with lights, and the walls were glowing with the show’s traditional red hue.

Walking into the studio room, Dan revealed he’d already had his make-up done, but Sally said she hadn’t been dolled up yet and was “totally natural, can’t you tell?”

He then asked his colleague Susan: “Susan, are you ready?”, to which she replied: “I’m ready, Dan. Always ready!”

Dan has been presenting BBC Breakfast since 2016, but he also hosts shows on Radio 5 Live.

He used to present Football Focus on the BBC from 2009 until last year, and has enjoyed stints on Match of the Day and Final Score.
