Naga Munchetty has left BBC Breakfast viewers baffled as she asked Michelle Obama about toilet roll.

In an exclusive interview, the former First Lady discussed many topics including President Trump and how she felt with husband Barack Obama first told her he wanted to run for President.

However, things took an unexpected turn when Naga quizzed Michelle on her bathroom habit.

Naga asked: “And finally the most important and political quesiton you’ll be asked in your lifetime, Toilet Roll. Your parents fought over whether the toilet roll should go over or under the toilet roll holder.

Naga Munchetty has left BBC Breakfast viewers baffled as she asked Michelle Obama about toilet roll.

“Your mother stood down to go under, give us an insight in the Obama household, over or under?”

Michelle replied: “I do reveal this in the book and if I wanted to leave it on a cliffhanger, i’d tell people to buy the book to find out but I wo’n’t be so cruel.. We are a over family.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Couldn’t you have managed something slightly more professional than asking Michelle Obama about toilet roll?”

Another added: “Yass @MichelleObama is correct. Toilet roll always goes over #BBCBreakfast.”

A third person said: “Naga Munchetty Asking Michelle Obama about bog roll….kill me now. #BBCBreakfast Fucking painful.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Naga asked: “What question do you detest being asked?”

She replied: “Are you going to run for President?.”

Naga asked: “Answer?”

Michelle continued: “I detest it. No i’m not, I’m not going to run.”

In her newly-released second memoir, The Light We Carry, Michelle says she “hates” how she looks “all the time and no matter what”.

“I’ve lived with my fearful mind for 58 years now,” she writes. “She makes me uneasy. She likes to see me weak.”

This part of her mind is constantly having negative thoughts about her appearance, the mother of two said there are plenty of mornings” when she turns on the bathroom light, takes one look at herself in the mirror, and |desperately want[s] to flip it off again|.

Her appearance, and her height in particular (she is 5’11”) is something Obama has always been insecure about, she explains in the book. Always “bringing up the rear” at school “created a small wound in me, the tiniest kernel of self-loathing that would keep me from embracing my strengths”.
