BBC viewers have called for a sequel to Keeley Hawes’ “gripping” new mass shooting drama Crossfire.
The three-part series aired its final episode on Wednesday night (September 21).
Written and produced by Apple Tree Yard author Louise Doughty, Crossfire follows a group of friends as they come under siege during a hotel pool shooting while on their joint holiday at a luxury resort.

While Crossfire has divided critics, fans on Twitter heaped praise on the “brilliant” and “nail-biting” drama as the show reached its dramatic conclusion.
With some fans praising Crossfire’s “emotional” ending, others called for the series to be developed into a “franchise” as they begged to see more of the characters.
One fan wrote: “#keeleyhawes and @buddyclubprods another fantastic gripping show Absolutely loved it.”
Another commented: “Absolutely brilliant…best drama for a long time…really tense – great cast.”
Meanwhile, a third fan said: “Have we just seen the launch of a franchise? Surely there’s more life in all these characters.”
A fourth added: “BBC what a gripping drama, literally had to cover my face most of it, really hard to watch. Brilliant drama, want more.”
“Absolutely brilliant! Heart in mouth stuff. Nail biting & emotional. I’m exhausted lol,” another fan concluded.
Crossfire also stars Harry Potter actor Lee Ingleby, Line of Duty star Anneika Rose and The Bay’s Daniel Ryan.
Bodyguard actress Keeley Hawes stars as off-duty police officer Jo and speaking recently about the series, praised her “non-passive” lead action role.
Keeley told Radio Times: “I’ve been asked, ‘How does this differ from other action-based pieces that you’ve done?’ Well, it’s the only one where I haven’t been passive.
“So something like Bodyguard, it’s an action thriller, but I wasn’t part of that action.
“So that was very exciting [on Crossfire] and very telling about the way that things have been.”
Crossfire is available to stream on BBC iPlayer now.
