Variety reports that parts of the 16 song album were leaked online, with physical CD’s even being sold early in Europe.
The outlet also reports that more physical copies of the album were in stock in the US but were not available to purchase until Friday.
And fans of the former Destiny’s Child star took to social media in droves to complain about the leak, as well as encourage other fans of the Check On It star to not listen to any material until the official release date at the end of the week.
One fan wrote: “Who tf is doing #RENAISSANCE leaks!! Can’t y’all hold your horses for 2 days! #Beyonce” alongside a graphically designed image of Beyoncé holding a gun.
Another wrote: “y’all please don’t leak renaissance or we never getting an album again”
One prospective listener noted: “I will NOT be listening to any leaks of #Beyonce new album #Renaissance That’s mad disrespectful!! #BeyHive”
Another member of the Bey Hive wrote: “anyone who is listening to the renaissance leak” which they posted alongside a short clip of Kim Richard’s angry pointing rant in the Real Housewives of Orange County exclaiming “You’re a pig, you’re a s**t pig”.
Whilst another pop music enthusiast noted: “To everyone who’s trying to spread the Renaissance leak please stop and delete ur tweets respectfully! RESPECT THE ARTIST #LittleMonsters”
Another Beyoncé fan posted a picture of the star giving a sarcastic nonchalant expression as they wrote: “People who spread Red tv leaks are now spreading #RENAISSANCE and they wonder why we hate them”
So far, the Lemonade star released the album’s lead single Break My Soul. It surged to the top of the Sky VIP Official Big Top 40, spending 4 weeks at the top of the chart and it currently sits at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
But whilst Beyonce’s most dedicated Bey-Hive fans want to appear loyal, other fanatics did not feel the same way and couldn’t help themselves by listening to the tracks early.
One mega fan wrote: “Look. I’ve been to 14 Beyoncé concerts, bought every single one of her albums and two copies of Renaissance. Y’all ain’t gonna make me feel bad for listening to a leak.”
Whilst another really couldn’t help herself noting: “i told myself i wouldn’t listen to any #RENAISSANCE leaks but this one is actually too good”
A third megafan wrote: “Who got the Renaissance leak ??? Im not Beyoncé’s strongest soldier I will listen to that s**t”
Whilst another member of the fanbase notes: “I wasn’t gonna spread any renaissance leaks but I’m that girl sounds so good omg”
